BAMBOO SUSHI: BISHOP RANCH BRAND MOMENTS
THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX WITH A UNIQUE MURAL
GRAPHIC DESIGN | BRAND MOMENTS
In 2008, Bamboo Sushi became the world’s first certified sustainable sushi restaurant. Matched by their dedication to sustainability is their drive to ‘offer a dining experience that seeks to inspire.’
For their new Bay Area restaurant, Bamboo selected a prominent location in the new City Center Bishop Ranch. With soaring ceilings across much of the space, they asked us to help solve for a large and empty recess in the ceiling over the bar area.
A SPACE WHERE SUSHI MEETS 1960’S TRAVEL + ROCK.
Our mission was to transform the span from an awkward architectural afterthought into an intentional, artful focal point.
Using layers of color inspired by Japanese watercolor prints, we designed a modern take on a traditional landscape mural, uniquely inverting the scene 180 degrees to highlight the ocean across the ceiling—a nod to Bamboo’s sea-based fare. As an added detail, the rising sun in the mural was designed to be oriented to the east.
