NIKE: ATLANTA FLAGSHIP

RECLAIMING HISTORY IN A MODERN RETAIL ENVIRONMENT

RETAIL DESIGN | BRAND STORYTELLING

Drawing environmental elements from the city’s a deep sports culture and focusing on celebrating local heroes, Nike’s new Atlanta flagship store was designed to showcase the unique flavor and history of the sprawling, diverse city.

The space was also intended to highlight Nike’s continual dedication to a greener footprint, incorporating reclaimed sports materials and an eco-conscious buildout.

DESIGN A SPACE THAT PAYS HOMAGE TO THE OLD, WHILE EMBRACING THE NEW.

Artfully fusing the old and the new, the space includes a regulation-sized reclaimed basketball court with gold trimmed backboards and black Swarovski crystal basketball nets. The flagship also features a window display tribute to native son, Martin Luther King Jr. with a basketball hoop reclaimed from a community gym where he learned to play basketball.

The gym was photo documented for the installation, and shortly thereafter was severely damaged in a fire and flood, requiring it to be demolished. Nike donated funds to support the building of a new community gym in its place.
