NIKE: COPACABANA FLAGSHIP

TELLING A PROGRESSIVE STORY THROUGH MULTI-FLOOR RETAIL

RETAIL DESIGN | BRAND STORYTELLING | CONSUMER JOURNEY

As Brazil prepared to host both the World Cup and Olympics, Nike launched a new flagship Futbol store in the Rio’s famed Copacabana neighborhood. As with all Nike retail projects, the space was designed to infuse local storytelling across various media, while showcasing the brand’s dominance in the world of athletic apparel.

CONSUMERS EXPERIENCE A PROGRESSIVE STORY AS THEY ASCEND THROUGH THE SPACE.

The space portrays a story of local children dreaming of playing on a professional soccer pitch one day. Beginning on the first floor inspired by prevalent pick-up street play, the ascent culminates where consumers can trial footwear on a grass pitch on the top floor. A mural rising through the atrium at the center of the space uses stars inspired by the Brazilian flag to further illustrate the story,

Outside, security gates that are closed at night were designed with wood slats that mimic the diamond pattern of the Brazillian flag to give them a more warm, artful presence.
